Embroidered dolly flower II
Please note that this dolly was photographed twice - once before the embroidery was added and again after. Almost all of the embroidery appears on the piece’s front.
The dolly flower is a mid-sized soft flower - made to lie around on a bed, or hang on a door handle, or flop over the back of a chair. It is made from unique fabrics and stuffed with a combination of poly fill and its own textile scraps and threads, making it a zero waste piece. A central hand-sewn seam is visible on the back of the flower (not that it matters which way you face it). There is a tiny discreet loop behind its top petal, through which a piece of hanging ribbon or twine can be threaded (or removed if its not being used).
Approx. 50cm tall, 40cm wide with petals outstretched.
This particular dolly is a one-off, made from a mix of Japanese remnant fabrics - cottons and what I think is a fine wool. It is finished with hand-embroidered lines and ‘patches’, with a bee on one leaf. As the chosen fabrics are not new, there may be small flaws and marks, though I have tried to minimise these and have situated the embroidery over areas of subtle discolouration.
To clean, a cool/lukewarm spot wash is best. A full immersion wash is really to be avoided. If necessary, do it quickly in strictly COLD water. Some colour loss/bleed may well result.
Made in Naarm/Melbourne for Milly Arcana.
