Soft elephant - LIMITED QTY AVAILABLE TO ORDER
Soft, light standing elephant with little mismatched button eyes.
Made from linen with pink silk inner for the trunk and black wool strands for the tail.
The elephant’s height is about 32cm and the width is approx 46cm from head to tail (not including full trunk extension). It’s a lovely biggish size and shape to pick up and cuddle.
My sample is stuffed with recycled poly fill and textile remnants but not tightly packed so that it is just a tad saggy, baggy. (It still stands ably).
‘Browny the elephant’ (pictured) is burnt umber brown (closest to the pics with yellow undercloth). Please choose if you would prefer brown like Browny or another colour. Colours I’ve contemplated include grey marle, soft oatmeal, dark steely blue … maybe a dark burgundy or purple?
Some important notes -
There is no separate insert inside the elephant and it has not been designed for immersion washing. My care recommendations are to occasionally brush down the elephant (particularly if it’s displayed standing in the same spot) and spot wash marks with a gentle soap and lukewarm water. If it really needs to be washed (quick hand/basin cold wash only!), it would survive but would emerge extra wrinkly and quite possibly a bit misshapen.
I have received a request to use kapok filling and I am open to this as it seems to be a lovely natural fibre, with low environmental impact but, unsurprisingly, it’s quite a lot more expensive, particularly for the higher grade kapok. I’ll look it into more but, at this stage, its use will be by request with an additional cost. Other options include recycled PET toy fill and eucalyptus fibre, which I like to use for small pieces. I don’t love using polyester products but it’s worth noting that the floss I generally buy is labelled ‘hypoallergenic’ and recommended for toys.
The starting price is $130 (no discounts, I’m sorry). Custom fabrics/fill may add to the cost as mentioned. I’m more than happy if you’d like to make two payments - a deposit to secure the order and a second payment plus postage when your elephant is finished.
